WHERE DO THE IZAAK WALTON LEAGUE OF AMERICA DUES DOLLARS GO?

There are two main classes of membership in the League, members-at-large or "MALs" and Chapter members. Persons considering joining the League should join a Chapter if at all possible, since there are significant benefits of chapter membership, particularly the opportunity to participate actively in conservation issues as well as to be part of the League's policy-making process.

Members-at-Large pay $36.00 per year for individuals and $54.00 per year for families.

Chapter membership dues vary from chapter to chapter, but $36.00 of each individual chapter membership fee goes to help support the national office, as does $54.00 of dues from family chapter memberships. Additionally, $4.00 from each individual or $6.00 from each family chapter membership fee goes to the Florida Division. These Division fees help defray costs of Division representation at national board meetings and conventions, and other Division expenses. Dues for the Cypress Chapter (Naples) are $52.00 for individual membership and $78.00 for family membership. Dues for Florida Keys Chapter (Islamorada) are $52.00 for individual members and $78 for family memberships. Please call the President of the other chapters for the dues amount for those chapters.

Both Chapter members and Members-at-Large receive the League's quarterly publication, OUTDOOR AMERICA.

In 1994, the League completed its new national headquarters, The Izaak Walton League Conservation Center, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, just a few miles from Washington, D.C. We are proud that the League was able to complete this multi-million-dollar building without using ANY membership dues for the construction. Because we are able to rent about one-half of the building to other non-profit organizations, we have been able to virtually eliminate the significant expense which we had for rent at our former location. This is typical of the League's long-standing policy of conserving our own funds as well as natural resources. This enables us to do more conservation work with our dues revenues and to operate with a balanced budget. For potential new members, this means the League provides the maximum return from the invested dues dollar or from other donations.

Further information can be obtained by calling our Florida Division.
